Input Output Global (IOG), the development and research arm of the Cardano network, has released a fresh blog post outlining important updates that took place within the ecosystem this week.
Upgrades in the Conway Era
According to the report, the development team responsible for performance and tracing carefully examined benchmarks for the Conway era. This led to the integration of Delegate Representatives (DReps), the tracing of DRep data, and improvements to the mechanism for reporting errors within the tx-generator.
Furthermore, the tracing and performance team expanded the node metrics by incorporating new functionalities such as block producer and build information. They also completed an analysis of benchmarks that focus on UTXO scaling scenarios.
The IOG highlighted that the Ledger team has actively engaged in development activities over the past two weeks, with a primary focus on the Conway era. Notable features implemented in the Conway era include the implementation of the bootstrap phase and the governance action transition.
Additionally, the team introduced additional features for testing purposes and made significant enhancements to the continuous integration (CI) setup.
Updates on Smart Contracts, Scaling, Catalyst, & Education
Significantly, Cardano’s smart contract functionality received new updates this week. Specifically, the Plutus team enhanced the implementation of the fixed point operator to improve the efficiency of the UPCL programs.
The Hydra team also made progress this week. The report stated that they identified and addressed discrepancies in the network protocol versions and integrated the relevant changes into the /commit endpoint. They also carried out minor workflow fixes to the protocol.
The report provided an update on Cardano’s Catalyst Fund 12, noting that the project is currently underway. Participants from various parts of the world have been submitting their proposals to meet the submission deadline of May 13 at 11 AM (UTC).
Lastly, the education team prepared content for the launch of the DRep Pioneer Program this week. They have already released the 19th lesson for the Haskell Bootcamp. The education unit is also working on the content for Mastering Cardano.
Latest Cardano Metrics
In addition, the IOG shared the latest metrics on Cardano. The number of projects launched on the Cardano network has increased to 170, compared to around 157 in January. This indicates that 13 new projects have joined the Cardano network in less than four months.
Similarly, the number of projects building on Cardano has risen by 2.95%, from 1,319 to 1,358 in the same time frame. Additionally, the network’s native tokens have seen a 5.5% increase since January, with the number of native tokens on Cardano rising from 9.45 million to 9.95 million.
Furthermore, the total number of transactions processed on Cardano has significantly increased from 83.4 million to 90.3 million.
