The Cardano community is buzzing with excitement over the highly anticipated launch of the Chang hard fork, with many hailing it as a game-changing upgrade. As the final stage of Cardano’s Voltaire roadmap, the Chang hard fork is set to revolutionize the network and propel it towards true decentralization and self-sustainability.
Renowned Cardano enthusiasts, such as Chris, ADA Whale, saint, and Ed n’ Stuff, have voiced their optimism about the upcoming upgrade. They believe that it will have a profound impact on Cardano’s governance and pave the way for a new era of community-driven decision-making.
Scheduled to go live in the second quarter of 2024, the Chang hard fork will introduce a minimum-viable community-run governance system. This marks a significant milestone in the Voltaire era, as it represents the first technological enhancement of its kind.
At its core, the Chang hard fork will kickstart Cardano’s governance journey, which will unfold in three crucial phases. The first phase will introduce a new governance feature called Delegate Representatives (DReps). These representatives, elected by ADA holders, will act as advocates for the broader Cardano community and will have the power to vote on all governance actions and proposals.
The second phase will focus on a constitutional convention, set to take place in Buenos Aires later this year. At this convention, governance representatives from all over the world will gather in Argentina’s capital to draft the inaugural version of the highly anticipated Cardano Constitution.
Once the constitution is drafted, it will undergo a ratification process, during which the broader Cardano community will vote on whether to adopt the proposed legislation. If the constitution is ratified, it will serve as the bedrock of Cardano’s decentralized governance model.
It’s worth noting that the drafting and ratification of the Cardano constitution will be finalized towards the end of the year, bringing Cardano one step closer to achieving its vision of a truly decentralized and self-sustaining network.
