SBI Holdings has embarked on the creation of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) for the upcoming 2025 World Expo in Osaka, Japan, marking a significant milestone in its partnership with Ripple. The initiative, known as the “EXPO 2025 Digital Wallet NFT” service, was first announced six months ago.
Under the guidance of Emi Yoshikawa, Ripple’s VP for Strategic Initiatives, the latest update underscores SBI VC Trade’s official disclosure. On-chain data allows network participants to monitor the real-time minting process.
According to data from XRPL explorer Bithomp, SBI has successfully minted 920 NFTs, with 908 of these collectibles minted on July 1. This achievement signals a substantial advancement in their project.
Further details were disclosed in a press release today, introducing “Myakoon,” a project aimed at offering Expo attendees unique digital collectibles. The first 5,000 visitors will receive these NFTs as part of a commemorative initiative.
The SBI NFT project aims to engage both virtual and physical participants, enabling them to collect and create exclusive NFTs. Through collaboration with its subsidiary SBI VC Trade and SBINFT, SBI Holdings leads this initiative.
Integrated into the EXPO 2025 Digital Wallet, Myakoon allows users to collect and view their NFTs on a dedicated platform. Participants can earn these digital collectibles by participating in Expo activities, both on-site and online. These NFTs are designed to be non-transferable and non-resellable, ensuring each remains unique to its owner.
Myakoon also offers users the ability to create NFTs by selecting original images based on their status in the reward program. Users with higher statuses gain access to rarer images, making the experience inclusive for newcomers to the NFT space.
To celebrate Myakoon’s launch, SBI is conducting several campaigns. The initial campaign will distribute special NFTs to the first 5,000 users, alongside a gift campaign offering luxurious prizes to Expo ticket purchasers.
Adult customers purchasing Expo tickets will also receive “Myakupe,” digital assets usable for transactions within and beyond the Expo site, in addition to Myakoon NFTs. The Expo is scheduled from April 13 to October 13 next year and is expected to attract over 28 million visitors, presenting a vast audience for this digital wallet service.
This initiative comes nearly two years after the XRPL introduced NFT functionality with the implementation of XLS-20D in August 2022, contributing to the growth of its NFT ecosystem.
