Uphold, the top American exchange supporting XRP, has debunked recent claims suggesting that its CEO, Simon McLoughlin, had predicted XRP to hit $10,000. The clarification was made through Uphold’s official X account in response to Crypto Eri’s concerns about a report making bold assertions about McLoughlin’s supposed prediction.
The exchange firmly stated that the claim of XRP reaching $10K ascribed to its CEO is completely false. Uphold emphasized that McLoughlin did not make any such prediction for any asset and has no intention of doing so in the future.
The origin of this claim can be traced back to Robert Doyle, also known as “Crypto Sensei,” who repeatedly suggested in his analyses that XRP could potentially reach $10,000. Utilizing a statement attributed to McLoughlin about every country using XRP, Crypto Sensei implied an imminent $10,000 price target for XRP without providing any credible reference.
It is worth noting that Uphold is Ripple’s payout partner for treasury payments among multinational companies, serving Ripple’s clients in the U.S., U.K., and Europe. McLoughlin expressed excitement about the practical use of cryptocurrencies and emphasized Uphold’s focus on utility rather than speculation.
After Doyle’s claims, crypto journalist Scott Matherson further perpetuated the $10,000 prediction in an article, despite Uphold’s clarification refuting the assertion.
In response to Uphold setting the record straight, Crypto Eri has urged the exchange to take action against the spread of misleading content on public platforms, especially as other YouTubers have echoed the false narrative.
