The Games team of the Shiba Inu ecosystem has unveiled a timeline for the closed beta testing phase of the card game Shiba Eternity on Shibarium. According to the team, closed beta testing for Shiba Eternity on Shibarium’s layer-2 scaling solution will commence in the third quarter of 2024. This phase aims to thoroughly assess the game’s features integrated with Shibarium before opening the beta to the public.
This announcement, shared by the team in an interview with The Shib Daily, marks a significant milestone for the ecosystem as it expands its presence in the Web3 gaming sector.
Despite ongoing challenges, particularly noted in the GameFi sector of DeFi, which has seen a substantial number of failures according to CoinGecko’s report last November, Shiba Eternity stands out due to its focus on enhancing player engagement rather than solely financial aspects. As of March 2024, the GameFi sector’s market cap has surged beyond $30 billion, underscoring its resilience and growth potential.
Shiba Eternity, which gained popularity swiftly after its initial launch in October 2022 for its strategic gameplay, is poised to offer an even more immersive experience with the upcoming Web3 integration. The Games team has diligently worked on integrating Shiba Eternity with Shibarium.
This recent update follows closely on the heels of the team’s release of the “Balancing Act” update (v.1.2.8), which introduced balancing mechanisms to Boshi’s powers. The team also launched the project’s initial internal build in April, anticipating the integration with Shibarium.
The integration with Shibarium promises to introduce several innovative features, including true ownership of in-game assets for players, potentially fostering a player-driven economy and incorporating community governance features. This integration highlights the advantages that Shibarium can offer to both players and developers.
Previously hinted by Shiba Inu ecosystem lead developer Shytoshi Kusama, the integration of Shiba Eternity with Shibarium will incorporate decentralized elements into the game while maintaining its independence within the ecosystem.
Furthermore, revenue generated from in-app purchases will be utilized to support the burning of SHIB and LEASH tokens, aligning with the broader economic strategy of the Shiba Inu project.
This adaptation of Shiba Eternity to Web3 is aligned with the long-term vision of the Shiba Inu team, leveraging Shibarium’s scalability and low transaction costs to ensure a seamless gaming experience.
