Shibarmy Scam Alerts, a community-driven channel dedicated to warning about scams, is alerting members of the Shiba Inu community about fraudulent SHIB airdrops.
In its most recent alerts, the channel stressed that there are currently no official SHIB airdrops being offered. They advised users to be cautious of connecting their wallets to fake websites in an attempt to claim the SHIB airdrop.
The warning emphasized that any claims of SHIB airdrops should be viewed as suspicious and not trusted.
Moreover, the channel shared a screenshot of a deceptive post promoting a SHIB airdrop under the fake name “Roberto Colon”. The post provided instructions on how to participate in the fake airdrop, including connecting wallets to a fraudulent website.
Connecting wallets to these websites could result in attackers gaining access to your funds and potentially leading to financial loss.
The scammers behind the deceptive post have been trying to legitimize it by retweeting other Shiba Inu-related news to deceive investors into believing the fake airdrop is real.
Investigations revealed that the account associated with the fake post was created in October 2010 and has garnered 1,437 followers. Despite over 1,900 users viewing the fake airdrop post, it only received two likes in the past three days, indicating that the Shiba Inu community is aware of the scam.
Airdrops are commonly used in the crypto space to reward community members with free tokens, but scammers have exploited this method to trick investors into compromising their wallets or personal information.
The Shiba Inu ecosystem team has previously warned against engaging with fraudulent SHIB airdrops and advised against clicking on any related links that could compromise wallet security.
In addition to SHIB, scammers have also targeted airdrops for tokens like BONE, KNINE, and LEASH within the Shiba Inu ecosystem. The team has issued similar warnings for these tokens, urging users to steer clear of malicious airdrops.
