Leading DNS domain provider D3 Global has expanded its range of payment options to include Shiba Inu and BONE on Shibarium as part of its latest upgrade.
With the increasing adoption of blockchain and Web3 technologies, there has been a rise in the demand for custom-made blockchain-based domain names. D3 Global is at the forefront of providing domain name services to individuals looking to secure Web3 domain names. In its latest upgrade, D3 Global now allows payments in Shiba Inu and Bone ShibaSwap (BONE), the governance token of the ShibaSwap ecosystem.
This announcement was made by D3 in a recent post on X, specifically targeting the Shiba Inu community. According to the D3 team, users can now make payments in Shiba Inu and BONE directly from their Shibarium addresses, without the need to bridge the tokens back to Ethereum.
It is worth noting that SHIB and BONE are native to the Ethereum blockchain. However, Shibarium users who want to utilize these assets must bridge their tokens to the layer-2 blockchain. In the past, making SHIB and BONE payments to companies like D3 would have required users to bridge their assets back to Ethereum.
By extending the payment options to Shibarium, D3 Global has eliminated the inconvenience of bridging the tokens back to Ethereum. This development is particularly beneficial for customers who prefer to use cryptocurrencies instead of traditional fiat currencies to purchase domain names.
Users can already make payments using Shiba Inu and BONE on Shibarium, according to an investigation by The Crypto Basic. To take advantage of this feature, follow these steps:
1. Visit D3.app using a web browser, preferably the embedded browser in your Ethereum wallet (e.g., MetaMask), and ensure that the URL is correct to avoid phishing sites.
2. Connect your wallet, such as MetaMask or Coinbase Wallet, to D3. If you are using the in-built MetaMask browser, this process should be seamless.
3. Enter the preferred domain name you wish to purchase, along with the extension (core or shib). D3 will inform you if the domain name is available or not.
4. If the domain name is available, the platform will display the cost in USD and other available purchase options.
5. Choose your preferred option, select the duration for which you want to retain the domain name, add a promotion code for any discounts, and select Crypto payments.
6. You will be directed to a window to choose the currency you want to pay with, either BONE or SHIB. Select your option and connect your Shibarium address to MetaMask if you haven’t already.
7. You will then receive a prompt to authorize the payment in either BONE or SHIB. Authorize the payment to complete the purchase of your SHIB domain name.
In addition to expanding the payment methods, D3 Global has also introduced a feature for direct minting to users’ wallets as part of its latest upgrade. This development comes four months after D3 partnered with Shiba Inu to introduce the .shib top-level domain (TLD) in December. This collaboration made Shiba Inu the first crypto project to pursue a TLD. A month later, D3 announced a special giveaway campaign for Shiba Inu supporters, offering the private.shib and officer.shib domain names to two lucky participants.
