Welly Friends, the fast-food partner of Shiba Inu, is expanding its presence in Italy with the opening of a second store in Reggio Emilia. In a recent post, Welly Friends announced that it held an opening party to celebrate the launch of its new Shiba Inu-themed restaurant. The official social media account of Welly Friends shared a video of the event, capturing the excitement and congratulating everyone involved in the opening of the Reggio Emilia branch.
This new store is part of a franchise agreement that was signed last year between Welly and its partner in Reggio Emilia. According to a press release, the restaurant features 40 indoor dining seats and offers Welly to-go options. The design of the Reggio Emilia-based restaurant was created in collaboration with MASQUESPACIO, an award-winning architecture studio, with input from members of the Shiba Inu community.
Welly has plans to expand its operations to other regions in Italy, as well as to other parts of the world, including the United States. Gianmaria D’Aniello, a spokesperson for Welly, expressed excitement about bringing this unique dining experience to new locations and further expanding the brand.
This expansion comes one year after Welly announced its intention to open two community-focused stores. Welly, which started its operations in Naples in 2021, officially partnered with Shiba Inu in 2022, with the ecosystem acquiring a 15% ownership stake in the business. As part of the partnership, Welly rebranded its operations and design to align with the Shiba Inu brand, incorporating the SHIB mascot into its logo. Additionally, Welly integrated with Shibarium, Shiba Inu’s Layer-2 blockchain.
In addition to the rebranding and integration with Shibarium, Welly is committed to reducing the circulating supply of SHIB tokens by participating in the burn campaign. The restaurant plans to burn SHIB tokens using a portion of its franchise fees and net profits. This burning process aims to decrease the supply of SHIB tokens and potentially increase their long-term value. So far, the community and individuals have burned a significant amount of 410.72 trillion SHIB tokens, as reported by Shibburn’s data.
