Shibarmy Scam Alerts, the official watchdog for the Shiba Inu ecosystem, has issued a caution to the community regarding the rising threat of scammers creating fake Telegram accounts and deceptive tokens falsely claiming affiliation with Shiba Inu.
In a recent post, Shibarmy Scam Alerts highlighted a concerning trend where scammers are setting up fake Telegram accounts to mimic official accounts within the Shiba Ecosystem. The community is advised to stay vigilant in order to avoid falling prey to these fraudulent activities.
One alarming discovery is the impersonation of legitimate Shiba Inu ecosystem profiles, specifically those associated with Shibariumnet and Treatsforshib on X. While the real handles are managed by Shiba Inu developers, the fraudulent Telegram groups with similar names aim to deceive unsuspecting users.
Screenshots shared by Shibarmy Scam Alerts reveal two such groups: “treatsforShib” with 92 members and 21 online, and “Shibarium Network (chat)” with 320 members and 38 online. These groups feature pinned messages and content related to Shiba Inu cryptocurrency, giving them an air of legitimacy to lure in innocent users.
It is essential to note that this warning comes on the heels of a previous alert from Shibarmy Scam Alerts regarding fake SHIB airdrops. Users were reminded that no official SHIB airdrops are currently in operation and were cautioned against providing wallet information to fraudulent websites promising airdrops.
Furthermore, Shiba Inu’s lead developer, DaVinci, has also issued a stern warning to the community regarding fraudulent token launches. Scammers are falsely claiming ties to Shiba Inu developers and the future of Shibarium, utilizing deceptive tactics and even referencing the shib.io address to appear legitimate. DaVinci emphasized that the Treat token has not been launched, and any tokens claiming association with it are fraudulent.
Community members are urged to conduct thorough research before engaging with new tokens, as the decentralized nature of Shibaswap poses challenges in banning deceptive tokens.
At present, Shiba Inu (SHIB) is trading at $0.00002509 with a 24-hour trading volume of $424,633,454.08. This represents a 2.67% decline in the last 24 hours and a 3.41% decline over the past week.
