Crypto.com has broadened its support for Shiba Inu by enabling users to load their Visa Cards with SHIB.
In a recent email to customers, Crypto.com announced the update, and the exchange also shared the news on Twitter, informing users that they can now fund their Visa Cards with SHIB.
In addition to Shiba Inu, Crypto.com offers support for over 100 cryptocurrencies for this service, including Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH).
The exchange has confirmed that this feature is available in all the regions where Crypto.com operates its card program, such as Europe and the United Kingdom. Funding a Crypto.com Visa Card is a simple process.
Users need to go to the ‘Card’ page on their mobile app, click ‘Top Up,’ choose SHIB or any of the supported cryptocurrencies as a payment method, enter the top-up amount, and confirm the transaction.
Importance of SHIB Integration
The acceptance of Shiba Inu as a payment method for funding Crypto.com’s Visa Card represents a significant milestone for the asset and its wider community. This allows customers of Crypto.com to use SHIB in their daily transactions, potentially increasing its usefulness and value.
This development also demonstrates Shiba Inu’s ongoing integration into the mainstream financial ecosystem, helping the token move away from its memecoin status.
Support for SHIB from Crypto.com
Since officially listing SHIB in March 2022, Crypto.com has continually expanded its support for the token. This includes introducing new trading pairs and launching reward programs featuring the token.
Earlier this year, the exchange raised its support for SHIB by promoting the dog-themed token on the Google Play Store and App Store. The exchange also serves as a platform for large SHIB purchases.
In April, a user withdrew 692.4 billion SHIB from Crypto.com, indicating that the tokens were newly acquired at the time and moved out of the exchange for long-term holding.
Crypto.com users have also contributed to reducing the circulating supply of Shiba Inu by transferring SHIB from the exchange to the official dead wallet. Last year, a Crypto.com user sent nearly 35 million SHIB to the dead wallet, permanently removing the tokens from circulation.
