The Shiba Inu ecosystem team has unveiled fresh updates regarding the upcoming hard fork on Shibarium, the layer-2 scaling solution. The team shared this update in the most recent edition of SHIB Magazine, stating that the chain upgrade signifies a crucial moment in the advancement of Shibarium’s infrastructure.
The hard fork will bring improvements to various aspects of Shibarium, including optimizing transaction processing and enhancing overall network performance.
Details of Shibarium’s Latest Hard Fork
The hard fork will primarily focus on two components of the Shibarium ecosystem – Bor and Heimdall. It is important to note that the Bor hard fork has already been implemented today at 02:30 AM (EST), or block height 4504576.
This particular hard fork revolves around two major proposals: increasing the calculation of state sync confirmations and delaying the state sync confirmation by 128 seconds. These proposals aim to address a bug pertaining to state sync that arises from network partitions.
Furthermore, the second upgrade, known as the Heimdall hard fork, is set to be rolled out tomorrow, May 3, precisely at 12:30 AM (EST), or block height 3941864. The Heimdall hard fork will enhance Shibarium’s transaction confirmation reliability and help the network achieve “deterministic finality.”
The concept of deterministic finality ensures that once a transaction is confirmed, it cannot be altered or reversed. Once both hard forks are successfully implemented by the technical team, Shibarium users can expect reduced transaction costs, improved user experience, accessibility, and enhanced security.
Community Members Awaiting Auto Burn Feature
While the hard fork is expected to introduce exciting features, members of the Shiba Inu community are eagerly anticipating the rollout of the highly anticipated SHIB auto-burn portal. This concern was raised by Lola, a prominent member of the Shiba Inu community, last month.
Previous Shibarium Upgrade
It is noteworthy that Shibarium has undergone significant upgrades since its launch in August 2023. The first hard fork took place on December 5, 2023, with the aim of supporting a multiple token burn model. This hard fork occurred at Bor block height 1962000.
Following the swift implementation of the hard fork, Shibarium experienced a surge in transaction volume, with daily counts reaching between 5 and 7 million. This played a major role in pushing the total transaction count to over 400 million.
At present, Shibarium has processed 417,359,607 (417.35 million) transactions and minted 4,505,472 (4.5 million) blocks since its launch. Additionally, a total of 1,793,206 (1.79 million) wallets have interacted with the L2 network thus far.
