xPortal, a crypto-based financial app on the MultiversX blockchain, has introduced Shiba Inu as one of the crypto assets usable with its card service.
In an announcement on Friday, xPortal revealed new top-up options for its crypto debit card service. With this update, crypto enthusiasts can now use various crypto assets like Shiba Inu to top up their cards and spend them instantly.
Other assets added by xPortal as new top-up options for its debit card service include Chainlink (LINK), Uniswap (UNI), popular meme coins Dogecoin (DOGE) and PEPE, and stablecoins USDT and USDC.
### xPortal Card Service Supporting Shiba Inu
xPortal is a global payments app and non-custodial crypto wallet built on the MultiversX (EGLD) blockchain. It enables users to exchange and manage their cryptocurrencies directly from their mobile devices. The team emphasizes the wallet’s security features, claiming it is unhackable due to its on-chain 2FA.
Shiba Inu enthusiasts can obtain xPortal’s debit card solution by downloading the app from the Apple App Store, Google Play Store, or Huawei AppGallery. The card issuance fee is free, but a €10 fee applies for physical card delivery and a 1.49% fee applies to crypto purchases. Users can also earn up to 5% cashback.
In response to the announcement, a U.S.-based crypto enthusiast expressed frustration that xPortal’s card service is unavailable to Americans. An X user responded, suggesting that potential changes in leadership with upcoming elections might lead to more favorable crypto regulations for U.S. residents.
### Growing List of SHIB Card Payment Services
With this update, xPortal joins the expanding list of crypto-based financial service providers that support Shiba Inu payments through various methods. In 2023, BitPay partnered with Sardine to enable SHIB card payments in over 180 countries. Additionally, Gate.io exchange launched a debit card supporting Shiba Inu payments across Europe the same year.
More recently, the CryptoCom App expanded its support to include Shiba Inu for Visa card funding. Binance’s crypto debit card also reinstated Shiba Inu payment support this month, building on its initial integration in August 2022.
