Shibarmy Scam Alerts, a community-based channel dedicated to warning the Shiba Inu community about scams, is cautioning members about fraudulent SHIB airdrops.
In its most recent alerts, the channel stressed that there are no official SHIB airdrops currently available. The channel also warned users to avoid connecting their wallets to fake websites in an attempt to claim the SHIB airdrop.
The alert emphasized that any claims of SHIB airdrops should be treated as fraudulent and not trusted.
Additionally, the channel shared a screenshot of a deceptive post promoting a fake SHIB airdrop under the false name “Roberto Colon.” The post detailed steps on how community members could participate in the scam, with one step involving connecting their wallets to a fraudulent website.
Connecting wallets to these sites could potentially grant scammers access to users’ funds, resulting in financial loss.
Upon investigation, it was discovered that the scammers behind the fake post were trying to legitimize it by retweeting other Shiba Inu-related news. Despite this effort, the post has only received two likes in the past three days, indicating that community members are aware of the scam.
Airdrops are commonly used in the crypto space to reward loyal community members with tokens. However, scammers have exploited this practice to deceive investors into giving up sensitive information or connecting their wallets to malicious platforms.
The Shiba Inu ecosystem team has previously warned against engaging with fake SHIB airdrops and has also issued similar cautions for other tokens like BONE, KNINE, and LEASH.
