Vitalik Buterin, the co-founder of Ethereum, has been stirring excitement within the cryptocurrency community with his recent notable transactions. His Ethereum wallet has seen a surge in activity, prompting speculation and conversation among crypto enthusiasts. Earlier today, Buterin’s wallet executed a substantial transfer of 3,000 ETH, valued at approximately $8.05 million, to a multi-signature wallet.
According to the crypto tracking platform Lookonchain, this transaction might signify a donation, although interpretations of its intent vary widely.
### Noteworthy Transfers and Wallet Activity
The transaction, timestamped at 12:39:23 AM UTC, captured attention as Lookonchain suggested it could be a donation. However, a dissenting perspective emerged, pointing out that all three signatories of the receiving wallet are connected to Buterin, which raises the possibility that this might be an internal redistribution rather than a charitable contribution.
Following this transfer, the receiving wallet now contains 3,000 ETH, valued at $7,907,204 based on the current Ethereum price of $2,635 per ETH. Additionally, this wallet holds a minor amount of other tokens, with a total value of $118.02. Buterin’s address remained active, as it later transferred 199.9 ETH, approximately worth $521,469.37, to another address.
### Contextualizing Historical Transactions
It’s also noteworthy that on August 5, a wallet dubbed “Vb 3” had sent 3,000 ETH, valued at around $7 million, to Buterin’s wallet. At that time, Buterin had a total of 245,223 ETH, amounting to $571.72 million.
These recent movements follow a trend of significant Ethereum transactions. The wallet “Vb 3” had previously transferred 1,001 ETH 184 days ago and 6,000 ETH 571 days prior. Each of these transactions is associated with Buterin’s address, suggesting a sequence of strategically planned transfers.
### Buterin’s Recent Token Sale
In another noteworthy event, Buterin recently conducted a significant sale involving Neiro tokens. His wallet sold 17.15 billion Neiro for 44.53 ETH, valued at approximately $112,448, on Uniswap V2. This sale initially caused a drop in Neiro’s price, although the market quickly rebounded with a subsequent 15% increase.
The Neiro team publicly addressed the sale, recommending that Buterin consider donating a portion of the proceeds to a shelter for stray dogs. They clarified that the distribution of Neiro tokens to Buterin was not an endorsement but rather a choice made by the original developer, who has since departed from the project.
